ABC's with Jenna Bee: Consistency

I will be consistent in the pursuit of my goals.
Consistency is built in every action you take. When I wake up every morning, the first thing I do is make my bed. This may seem insignificant, but this daily ritual instills a sense of pride in my subconscious. That pride builds the confidence I have in myself, and encourages me to take on more throughout my day.
Building positive habits through consistency creates a significant improvement in your life. But, how do you turn a commitment into a habit? Studies show that a morning routine is our strongest routine, which makes it the best place to incorporate our commitments.
Five Tips for Consistency:
- Get clear on what commitments you want to achieve.
- Write out why this is important to you.
- Schedule your commitments!
- Prepare to accomplish them the night before.
- Take action!
How I Turned My Commitments Into Habits:
- Every morning I want to:
- Make my bed
- Exercise or move my body
- Meditate or pray
- Journal
- Say affirmations in the mirror
- I want to do these things because:
- When I make my bed, I start my day off with a small win. When I come home after a long day, I feel accomplished when I see my bed made nicely, even if I wasn’t able to accomplish anything else.
- I gain mental clarity after I exercise or even just go for a walk outside.
- When I meditate, I am able to alleviate anxiety. When I pray, I am able to acknowledge any worries I have
- I journal to get my thoughts and ideas out on paper and it gives me a sense of relief to get out of my head.
- I say affirmations in the mirror because it empowers me and allows me to feel a sense of confidence.
- When I neglect my morning routine, I notice a significant difference in my attitude and motivation.
Each Sunday I plan out the week ahead, in order to schedule when I will accomplish my routine.
The night before, I set my alarm and focus on how good I feel after I complete my routine.
When you build consistency within your routines, you may not notice an immediate change; however, over time you will see how powerful each consistent action has become.
Ordinary things consistently done produce extraordinary results.
